Our Approach at Adapt For Life
Here’s what makes us different. We don’t use a one-size-fits-all treatment plan. Our therapists spend time getting to know your child, what they love, what motivates them, and what your family’s goals are. We work in environments where your child feels comfortable, whether that’s our clinic, your home, or even their school. You’ll always know what we’re working on and why. We’re big believers in regular communication because this is a partnership between our team and your family.

What a Typical Session Looks Like
One of the most common questions parents have is what exactly happens during the therapy sessions. Your child may seem like they are simply playing. The therapist may be helping your child build something with blocks or play a game.
Every therapist works on different skills with your child, and they try to keep the mood positive and fun. Making a game out of something is a common way to work on specific skills like taking turns or following directions.
We do lots of different activities to work on a variety of skills. The time for a session is based on what your child needs and how long they are able to pay attention. Sessions can be as short as 1 hour or as long as 3 hours. And the activities during the session may change as your child’s skills do.

Our Team’s Qualifications
All of our therapists are Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA), or Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT). It is a positive thing for you as parents to have therapists with these designations. It means they have spent a long time in training and have successfully passed the national exams, which is an indication that they know what they are doing. More importantly, they have worked with Kentucky families for many years.
All of our therapists have experience with the Kentucky school systems and with the available resources in Lexington. This means they really understand what is available, and they are invested in helping to change your child’s life for the better.
Family Involvement Matters
You’re the expert on your child, and we need you in this process. We’ll teach you the same strategies we use so you can support your child’s progress at home. See how Parent Training in ABA Therapy doubles results at home. Many parents join sessions to learn techniques firsthand. Siblings can be involved too because kids often learn best from other kids. We want everyone in your family to feel confident helping your child succeed.

Tracking Progress
Your child’s progress will be communicated on a frequent basis. We work towards goals such as “requests assistance when needed,” or “interacts with peers for 10 minutes.” You will not be left guessing about whether or not progress is being made through therapy. We use data to track progress, but it is always communicated in a way that is easy to understand. You will receive progress reports, which will indicate changes. We also evaluate our strategies so that we can do more of what is effective and discontinue what is not.
